Chapter 2: Rack Mounting
Emprise 7000 Components

This section describes how to install the Emprise 7000 system components into a rack.

The following instructions assume that you are using a standard Xiotech rack, which is 19 inches
wide and 29 inches deep. For information about the dimensions of Emprise components, refer to
“Emprise 7000 System Specifications” on page 12.

Warning:

When rack mounting the components of the Emprise system, load the heaviest
components at the bottom first to avoid hazardous conditions. The rack should
safely support the combined weight of all the equipment it contains.

Warning:

The components, rails, and rack have sharp edges. To avoid physical harm,
use caution when installing components into the rack.

Caution:

To reduce the risk of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), wear a grounded wrist
strap while performing these procedures. Put on the anti-static wrist strap and
attach it to a grounded surface such as the exposed metal surface of the
chassis or the rack enclosure. Keep the wrist strap on for the remainder of this
procedure.
