Replacing ISE Components
Note
: This chapter tells you how to remove and replace the following. All components are hot-
swappable.
•
SFP
•
Power supply
•
Battery unit
•
MRC
•
DataPac
Some of the procedures instruct you to use the ISE’s CLI. See “Using the CLI to Maintain the
ISE” on page 107 for more information about starting the command processor.
Replacing an SFP
To determine whether the SFP needs to be replaced, check the following:
•
In the Physical View in ICON Manager, the FC port will be Non-Operational
•
Logs in ICON Manager
Be sure to use a Xiotech-specified replacement SFP only. If the SFP in an MRC fails, it can be
replaced using the following procedure:
1. Remove the Fibre Channel cable in the SFP by grasping and gently pinching the cable
connector as you gently pull it from the SFP.
2. Take care not to pinch the connector such that the tab cover pops below the tabs on the head
of the connector.
3. Release the bail (if present) holding the SFP in the chassis.
4. Gently pull the SFP from the chassis.
5. Remove the protective plug from the replacement SFP and lift the bail (if present).
6. Gently insert the replacement SFP fully into the chassis.
7. Engage the bail (if present) to secure the SFP in the chassis.
8. Insert the Fibre Channel cable gently into the SFP while gently pinching the cable connector.
The MRC establishes communication with the switch, and I/O operations on the FC port resume.
