Emprise 7000 Installation and Service Guide 37
Rack Mounting the PDU
Xiotech requires that you use at least two Power Distribution Units (PDUs) to support separate
power circuits. You can purchase a PDU from Xiotech for this purpose. Xiotech service personnel
can qualify your existing PDU if you choose not to use the Xiotech unit with the Emprise system.
The Xiotech PDU has twelve outlets and installs on the outside rails of a standard 19-inch rack.
As your system grows, it may be necessary to install additional PDUs.
1. Locate the screws supplied with the PDU.
2. Use a screwdriver and 4 screws to attach the 2 vertical-mounting brackets to the PDU.
3. Insert cage nuts into the rack where you want to install the PDU.
4. Use a screwdriver to attach the PDU to the cage nuts on the vertical mounting rail in the rack.
5. Plug the PDU power cords into two separate dedicated circuits.
6. Repeat these steps to install additional PDUs.
Caution:
The ISE should be connected to a power source which carries a fuse or circuit
breaker that is greater than the rating of the ISE, but also complies with the
national wiring standards. You must use PDUs with the Emprise system.
Caution:
Do not use extension cords or adapters with this PDU, and make certain that
the power cord is not plugged into an outlet while installing the PDU.
Note:
Do not install the PDU where excessive heat or moisture is present.
Note:
Make sure you attach the labels found in the PDU Assembly box. The labels
are useful for balancing the power of the various components when attaching
the cords.
Caution:
If you are using a UPS, make sure that the system component power buttons
are in an off position before powering up the UPS.
