Emprise 7000 Installation and Service Guide 75
Installing the Replacement MRC
1. Insert the replacement MRC fully into the ISE chassis and close its latch handle to seat it.
2. Tighten the latch handle screws finger tight, being careful not to overtighten them.
3. If the ISE is powered off, apply power by pressing the switches on both power supplies to the
ON position and connect to the ISE through the ISE CLI.
4. Add the MRC to the ISE configuration: From the ISE CLI, type the
add --mrc1
or
add --mrc2
command depending on the number of the MRC you removed.
5. Configure the MRC IP address. From the ISE CLI, type
--ipaddress1=xxx.xxx.xx.xxx
or
--ipaddress2=xxx.xxx.xxx
, depending on the number of the MRC being replaced.
xxx.xxx.xxx
is the IP address of the failed MRC that you noted in step 2 on page 74.
6. Set the Subnet Mask. From the ISE CLI, type configure
--netmask1=255.255.0.0
or
--netmask2=255.255.0.0
, depending on the number of the MRC being replaced.
7. Use the ISE CLI command
show mrc
to verify that the IP address and subnet mask have
been set without overwriting the existing MRC configuration. You can repeat steps 5 and 6 if
necessary to reset the MRC configuration information.
8. Reconnect the Ethernet and Fibre Channel cables to the MRC by gently pinching the cable
latches and inserting the cables into their respective connectors.
9. Ensure that the status of the new MRC is operational in the ISE as follows:
•
In the Physical View of ICON Manager, click on the MRC to show its status, or
•
From the ISE’s CLI, type
show mrc
.
10. If the MRC is not processing I/O, check the firmware levels of both MRCs in the Physical
View of ICON Manager. If the firmware levels are not the same, the MRC must be upgraded.
See “Upgrading MRC Firmware” on page 110.
Note:
If you are installing both MRCs into an ISE chassis at the same time (which
should not be done with the ISE powered off), fully seat one MRC and close its
latch handle before inserting the second one to prevent possible mechanical
obstruction from a partially unseated MRC.
Note:
If the ISE is in standby mode, insertion of the replacement MRC causes the
Emprise 7000 to power up.
