Emprise 7000 Installation and Service Guide 115
3. Using a remote console, connect to the same MRC to which you uploaded the firmware file.
4. Type
upgrade --status
to observe the upgrade status of the DataPac.
•
If a DataPac upgrade is currently being performed by another user, the status reads In
progress.
•
If a DataPac upgrade is not currently being performed and the DataPac is eligible to be
upgraded, the status reads No upgrade in progress.
5. Type one of the following:
•
upgrade --datapac1=<datapac_firmware_file_name>
(to upgrade DataPac 1)
•
upgrade --datapac2=<datapac_firmware_file_name>
(to upgrade DataPac 2)
•
upgrade --datapac=<datapac_firmware_file_name>
(to upgrade both DataPacs)
6. The ISE automatically checks the uploaded file to ensure it is compatible with the hardware
and software currently in the ISE:
•
If the uploaded file is not compatible, the console displays a message describing the
compatibility failure and shows the upgrade status again. The system automatically
deletes the incompatible file from ISE memory. Locate a DataPac firmware file that is
compatible with the hardware and software versions on the ISE and begin the procedure
again from Step 2.
•
If the uploaded file is compatible, the message
DataPac upgrade in progress...
is
displayed, followed by a status display showing that the upgrade is In Progress.
•
To monitor the progress of the upgrade, repeatedly type
upgrade --status
. The display
shows the percentage of completion as the DataPacs are being upgraded. The upgrade
process can take several minutes.
•
During this step, the DataPac Status and Detailed Status (on the
show datapac
display)
are shown as Warning (DataPac FW Upgrade In Progress) for each DataPac in turn.
•
During this step, another operator connected to this ISE may use the ISE’s CLI. However,
if that operator attempts to start a firmware upgrade, the CLI status display appears,
indicating that a firmware upgrade is already in progress and another upgrade cannot be
started.
The new firmware is automatically propagated to both DataPacs. The Emprise 7000 begins using
the new DataPac firmware as soon as it is installed on each drive in the DataPac. When the
upgrade is complete, the
upgrade --status
display shows the status as Complete.
