Connecting Servers to the Emprise 7000
The system controllers can be connected to servers with fiber cables or a combination of fiber
and iSCSI cables. There must be at least one host-side FCIC in each system controller, except
for the 4000i system, which has only iSCSI cards. See Figure 4-4 or Figure 4-5, depending on
the cards installed in the controller and the cables shipped with it. The diagrams show dual
components and dual paths to all components. Note that each server must be connected to both
controllers through separate paths for a fully redundant configuration.
For each system controller:
1. Connect the fiber or iSCSI cable to the system controller (see the following diagrams for the
specific ports to use, depending on your configuration).
2. Connect the other end of the cable to the switch.
3. Connect the switch to the server.
4. Do not power up the components of the Emprise system yet.
