5.20 Serial Over Lan (SOL) Switch
The Perle IOLAN-SC32 DAC model SOL Switch is for last resort
component management as well as management of components that
lack a GUI operating system or interface, for example the FLM,
PCMAHC, Monitor VMBR, Leader VMBR, etc.
The SOL unit has redundant power supplies, a 400 MHz 32-bit
processor (750 mips), and offers dual 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet
with redundant path technology.
The rack mount IOLAN SOL models have a dedicated Console port,
located on the LED side of the IOLAN. Use the supplied Administration
cable (with the supplied RJ45 DB9F adapter if needed) to connect a
terminal to the Console/Admin port to view diagnostic information
and/or configure the IOLAN using the Menu or Command Line
Interface (CLI). Use the terminal to configure the baud rate and flow
control of the dedicated Console port.
Figure 5-56 shows a front view of the SOL switch, which provides power
ON/OFF switches, status LEDs and a console port. Figure 5-57 shows
the rear panel of the SOL switch, which provide access to the serial
ports, dual Ethernet ports, and dual AC power. There is also a reset
button located on the rear of the unit.
