5.10.6.2 MCD Chassis Monitoring
5.10.6.2.1 MCD Power Supplies, Fans, and Temperature Monitoring
The WAM monitors the Power Supply (PS) Failure signals directly, and
Power Supply voltages, chassis temperature, and Blower/Fan RPM
through the chassis WAM Transition Module. The M&C queries the
WAM for this information, and then sends the Power Supply voltages
and chassis temperature values to the NMS using SNMP. If a Power
Supply fails, or the Blower/Fan RPM goes to zero, an SNMP trap is set
to alert the NMS operator.
5.10.6.2.2 MCD Chassis LED Description
The active M&C provides the WAM with chassis physical slot "health"
information. The WAM controls the Service LEDs on the Alarm Panel
(locations shown in Table 5-5) indicating the status of the individual
cards in the slots. The green slot LED indicates that the slot is healthy
while the red slot LED indicates that slot is not healthy or does not
have a card plugged in.
The M&C provides the health of all CDCs and UCs as well as its own.
The M&C also generates SNMP traps and notifies the RtNMS on any
change of a slot health. The inactive M&C chassis LED indicator is
always red.
