5.18 Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Firewall

5.18.1 Overview

The Cisco ASA 5500 Series Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) serves as

a Firewall for the ArcLight network. There are two firewalls installed
with redundant Active/Active modes of operation. These firewalls

protect the Hub, VMTs and associated devices from Ground Segment
intrusion. The ASA provides VPN and other private WAN line
connectivity into the Hub for NOC management and VNO Data Traffic.

Refer to the Cisco ASA 5500 Series Getting Started Guide for
information on hardware installation and operational specifications for
the ASA 5500 Series

The ASA front panel is shown in Figure 5-51.
