Screen Descriptions for NMS Client

Amplitude Adjustment:

This field specifies the amplitude adjustment

value for each “adjust retry” iteration.

The resolution is 0.1 dB

The allowed range is from 1 to 20 (0.1 to 2.0 dB)

The recommended value is 10 (1.0 dB)

Max. Silence (sec):

This field specifies the maximum time to receive no

packets from the VMT,

The resolution is 1 second.

The allowed range is from 1 to 100 seconds

The recommended value is 10 seconds

Max. Poll Wait (sec):

This field specifies the maximum time to wait for

response from polling for dummy packets (NOTE: must allow enough
time for Nrefresh packets to be sent plus round-trip delay).

The resolution is 1 second

The allowed range is from 1 to 100 seconds

The recommended value is 2 seconds

Max attempts:

This field specifies the maximum number of tries that

the RtNMS will adjust VMT’s power to re-establish contact (NOTE: each

attempt results in an amplitude adjustment change to amplitude).

The resolution is 1 attempt

The allowed range is from 1 to 10 attempts

The recommended value is 3 attempts

(bursts):

This field specifies the number of bursts that the

RTNMS will request the VMT to transmit in order to refresh the control

loop.

The resolution is 1 burst

The allowed range is from 1 to 1000

The recommended value is 32

Leader Eb/No Offset (dB):

The Offset to Leader Amplitude is expressed

in 0.01 dB units. The default for this field is 0 (zero).

– Click on this button to close the screen.

Cancel

– Click on this button to erase any new entries made on the

open screen, close the current screen and revert to the next higher-level
screen in the hierarchy. The next time the screen is opened the values
that existed before the current editing session will appear. The Cancel

button will not undo use of the OK or Apply buttons.
