4.5.5.2 Explaining Logging and Log Entries
APR log files (Figure 4-6) display in tabular form the date and time
(year-month-day-hour-minute-second) of each entry; the ID of the VMT;
the velocity of the VMT; the return link signal strength as effective
isotropic radiated power; the transmission offset measured in Hertz; the
longitude of the VMT; the latitude of the VMT, the altitude of the VMT,
and the EbNo level of the VMT.
These files can be exported to MS Word from MS Excel to create
reports, as needed, to document usage patterns for the VMTs making
up the network and confirm that the VMTs were not operational in
radio quiet zones.
4.6 Network Performance Tools
4.6.1 FTP Servers
The FTP Server is a separate software that is used to support the
ArcLight PEP setup and for performance testing. The FTP server, which
is 3

party software (usually OISFTP Server) is used to test TCP
throughput performance.
4.6.2 Other

party tools can also be used as checks on the
benchmarking of the returned performance.
