5.6.2 Physical

Interfaces

5.6.2.1 Ethernet Interfaces

The Monitor Server’s front panel Ethernet interfaces are two RJ-45

GigE 10/100/1000 Base-T interfaces complying with the physical and
electrical characteristics of the IEEE 802.3 specifications, a COM1 port,
two USB ports, a VGA port for connection to the KVM switch display,

and a KB/MS port.

5.6.3 Installation

Refer to the

ArcLight Hub Installation Guide

for installation and

operating specifications information. The Monitor Server runs the

applications described in sections 4.3 and 4.4, e.g. IsItUp and
TermViewer. Please refer to those sections for installation details of

those applications.

A spare Monitor Server can be provided in the ArcLight network
configuration. Currently, only a cold spare Monitor Server is supported.

In such configuration the spare Monitor Server is configured with same
IP addresses as the primary Monitor Server.

5.6.4 Configuration

The Monitor Server requires very little configuration and comes pre-

installed with the Windows 2000 OS. The only configuration required is
at the installation time to configure its Ethernet interfaces’ IP
addresses. The Windows 2000 Network Configuration facilities are used

to configure the IP addresses.

5.6.5 Operation

The Monitor Server does not have any special operational procedures,

except for the procedures specific to the applications it is running.
Those are described in sections 4.3 and 4.4, e.g. IsItUp and
TermViewer.

5.6.6 Monitoring

The Monitor Server requires no monitoring, except for its application
described in sections 4.3 and 4.4, e.g. IsItUp and TermViewer.

5.6.7 Troubleshooting

Refer to the ArcLight Hub Troubleshooting Guide for specific

troubleshooting information.
