NAN
Not A Number (NAN) represents the value 9.91E37. NAN is only sent as a
instrument response. This value is not defined. Possible causes are the divi-
sion by zero, the subtraction of infinite from infinite and the representation of
missing values.
Boolean Parameters
Boolean parameters represent two states. The "ON" state (logically true) is repre-
sented by "ON" or a numeric value 1. The "OFF" state (logically untrue) is repre-
sented by "OFF" or the numeric value 0. The numeric values are provided as the
response for a query.
Example:
Setting command:
SENSe:AVERage:COUNt:AUTO ON
Query:
SENSe:AVERage:COUNt:AUTO?
Response:
1
Text parameters
Text parameters observe the syntactic rules for mnemonics, i.e. they can be
entered using a short or long form. Like any parameter, they have to be separated
from the header by a white space. In the case of a query, the short form of the
text is provided.
Example:
Setting command:
TRIGger:SLOPe POSitive
Query:
TRIG:SLOP?
Response:
POS
Character strings
Strings must always be entered in quotation marks (' or ").
Example:
Setting command:
SENSe:FUNCtion "POWer:AVG"
Query:
SENS:FUNC?
Response:
"POWer:AVG"
