About DVD recording
This r eco r de r can r eco r d to DVD-R, DVD-RW,
DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-RAM, DVD-R DL
and DVD+R DL media.
DVD-R and DVD-RW discs can be initialized
fo
r
Video mode
o r
VR mode
r eco r ding. Each
has its advantages, and it de p ends on what
you want to do with the r eco r ding which
mode you choose.
If you want to edit you r r eco r dings in any
significant way, VR mode offe r s g r eate r
p ossibilities fo r cutting, co p ying, and
changing the way the video is pr esented.
Video mode is less flexible when it comes to
editing, but it has the advantage that it is
com
p atible with standa r d DVD p laye r s
(many of which won’t p lay VR mode discs

).
Once a disc is initialized fo r a p a r ticula r
mode, all r eco r ding on that disc will be in
that mode.
DVD+RW discs can be initialized fo r
+VR
mode
r eco r ding.
DVD-RAM discs can be initialized fo r VR
mode r eco r ding.
DVD+R discs do not r equi r e initializing.
Important
• The table below shows the maximum
numbe r of titles r eco r dable p e r disc and
the maximum numbe r of cha p te r s p e r
title:

A maximum of 999 chapters are recordable per disc.

A maximum of 254 chapters are recordable per disc.
• This r eco r de r cannot p lay o r r eco r d
unfinalized DVD-R/-RW (Video mode)
and DVD+R discs
r eco r ded on anothe r
r eco r de r . DVD+RW discs r eco r ded on
anothe r r eco r de r a r e p layable on this
r eco r de r but a r e not r eco r dable.
• The maximum continuous r eco r ding
time fo r one title is eight hou r s when
using a DVD+R/+RW disc.
• If you delete a title f r om a DVD+R/+RW
disc, the total numbe r of r eco r dable
titles r emaining may not inc r ease.
• Finge rpr ints, di r t and small sc r atches on
a disc can affect p layback and/o r
r eco r ding p e r fo r mance. Please take
pr o p e r ca r e of you r discs.
• If p owe r to the r eco r de r is cut (due to a
p owe r outage, the p lug being p ulled f r om
the p owe r outlet, etc.) du r ing r eco r ding,
editing, initializing, finalizing o r othe r
o p e r ation, some r eco r ded mate r ial on the
disc, o r the disc itself, may become
unusable. In this case, t r y r e-initializing
the disc (DVD-RW only), o r use a new
disc. Pionee r is not r es p onsible fo r lost
r eco r dings, damaged discs o r othe r
losses in these cases.
