Switching on and setting up
When you switch the r eco r de r on fo r the fi r st
time, you can make seve r al basic settings
using the Setu p Navigato r featu r e. This takes
you th r ough setting the clock, the inte r nal TV
tune r and the video out p ut.
If you’ r e using the r eco r de r fo r the fi r st time,
we st r ongly r ecommend you use the Setu p
Navigato r befo r e sta r ting to use the
r eco r de r .
1 Switch on your TV and set the video
input to this recorder.
2 Switch on the recorder.
When you switch on fo r the fi r st time, you r TV
should dis p lay the Setu p Navigato r sc r een (If
the Setu p Navigato r doesn’t a pp ea r , you can
also access it f r om the Initial Setu p menu;
see p age 113).
3 Choose a language (then press
ENTER).
This will also set the audio, subtitle and DVD
menu language
pr efe r ences.
4 Start the Setup Navigator.
• If you don’t want to use the Setu p
Navigato r , pr ess

to select
Cancel
,
then pr ess ENTER to exit the Setu p
Navigato r .
5 Select ‘Antenna’ or ‘Cable’ depending
on how you receive your terrestrial TV
channels.
Afte r selecting Antenna o r Cable the
r eco r de r sta r ts automatic tuning. This takes
a cou p le of minutes to com p lete.

• You can go back to the pr evious sc r een
in the Setu p Navigato r by pr essing
RETURN
.
6 Select ‘Auto’ for automatic
time setting, or ‘Manual’ to set the clock
manually.
• Auto clock setting
Some TV channels b r oadcast time
signals togethe r with the pr og r amme.
This r eco r de r can use these signals to
set the clock automatically.
