Connections and wiring
WARNING!
Danger due to electric shock!
•
Protective extra-low voltage and low-voltage lines or cables must al-
ways be installed so that they are safely isolated from each other.
•
It needs to be ensured that no small metal parts (e.g. wire pieces) get
into the module enclosure.
•
Small parts (e.g. cable and copper remains) and dirt must be removed
after the completion of the wiring work.
Recommendation: Separate fuses of control and loads to ensure the operation of the
control in case of a short circuit of loads.
CAUTION!
•
All fuses should be dimensioned by the loads. But the maximum fuse
for any supply voltage is 10 A.
•
Always turn off the power supply before mounting and dismounting the
module package.
Information
To avoid problems with potential differences and compensation currents, it
is recommended to bundle all 0 V potentials in a star point.
Depending on the CPU module of the system there are different connection scenar-
ios which are described in the appendix.
Information
Use only connection examples which are valid for the CPU module you
use.
5.1
Interfaces
In the following chapters the provided interfaces are described.
5.1.1
CAN
CAN-line between CPU module and additional CAN modules
A CPU module can be connection with further bus modules via a CAN line. Decen-
tralized module clusters in the MotionOne 3 are connected to the CAN circuit via a
bus link module.
Cable type
The CAN connection must be made with a suitable line. We recommend a data cable
in accordance with ISO/DIS 11898 (CAN norm).
Twisted pair, shielded with signal ground.
A multi-core twisted cable can also be used. At the same time, it is important to note
that the CAN+ and the CAN- lines are guided in a common twisted pair of wires.
Surge impedance:
Min. 108 Ω, typ. 120 Ω, max. 132 Ω
Line resistance:
Typ. 70 mΩ/m
Signal propagation time:
Typ. 5 ns/m
Plug type
9 pole D-sub socket connector with completely conductive housing.
The cable shielding must be connected plane with the shield cover of the plug. An
additional connection of the shield and the ground is not necessary.
