16.1. What is iNet?
This section provides a brief overview of the iNet service, and how to configure DS2 Docking
Station for use with iNet.
Industrial Scientific’s Instrument Network (iNet) provides a full-service management system for
your gas detection program. Using the Internet, instrument data from your DS2 Docking Station
system is transferred to the iNet Network Operations Center, where it is analyzed by Industrial
Scientific to ensure that the equipment is in optimum working condition.
When diagnostic data is downloaded to iNet, it is analyzed to determine if there are any issues
that need to be addressed, such as a faulty sensor or malfunctioning instrument. If a problem is
detected, the Network Operations Center notifies the appropriate customer service personnel to
dispatch a service call, send replacement parts, or exchange an instrument. In addition, as part of
the IDS diagnostic data, iNet can detect when calibration gas cylinders are low, and proactively
send new cylinders to you.
iNet is intended to add a layer of protection to your investment in DS2 Docking Station and your
gas detecting instrument fleet. iNet allows customers to be constantly connected with ISC in
order to ensure the most responsive service and support.
iNet has three service level options:
On-site Service and Support - An Industrial Scientific technician will be dispatched to your
site to provide assistance.
Parts Replacement Service - New parts will be sent to your site via next-day business
delivery. You are responsible for installing the new part.
Exchange Service - A new instrument will be sent to your site to replace the faulty equipment.
You ship the malfunctioning instrument back to Industrial Scientific.
