HYDRAULIC BRAKE

Place a shop towel over the pistons.

Position the caliper body with the pistons down and
apply short bursts of air pressure to the fluid inlet to
remove the three pistons.

• Do not use high pressure air or bring the nozzle

too close to the inlet.

• Mark the pistons to ensure that they are rein-

stalled in their original locations.

Be careful not to

damage the piston

sliding surface.

Remove the dust seals and piston seals.

Clean the seal grooves, caliper cylinders and pis-
tons with clean brake fluid.

INSPECTION

Check the caliper cylinder for scoring or other dam-
age.

Measure the caliper cylinder I.D.

Check the caliper pistons for scratches, scoring or
other damage.

Measure the caliper piston O.D.

PISTON SEALS

SERVICE LIMITS:

Upper: 27.060 mm (1.0654 in)
Middle: 22.710 mm (0.8941 in)
Lower: 27.060 mm (1.0654 in)

SERVICE LIMITS:

Upper: 26.91 mm (1.059 in)
Middle: 22.56 mm (0.888 in)
Lower: 26.91 mm (1.059 in)
