IGNITION SYSTEM

Remove the right floor step (page 3-12).
With the ignition coil primary wire connected, con-
nect the peak voltage adapter or tester probes to the
ignition coil.
Retract the side stand.
Turn the engine stop switch " " and ignition switch
ON.
Crank the engine with the starter switch and mea-
sure the ignition coil primary peak voltage.
If the peak voltage is abnormal, follow the check
each item in the troubleshooting chart (page 20-4).
After inspection, install the following:
– Spark plug cap (page 4-7)
– Right floor step (page 3-12)
– Left floor side panel (page 3-6)

USING THE TEST PROBE
• Check all system connections before performing
this inspection. If the system is disconnected,
incorrect peak voltage might be measured.
• Check that the cylinder compression is normal
and the spark plug is installed correctly.
Place the scooter on its center stand.
Disconnect the ECM 33P (Black) connector (page 6-
95).
Connect the peak voltage adaptor to the terminals
of the ECM 33P (Black) connector.
Turn the engine stop switch " " and ignition switch
ON.
Crank the engine with the starter switch and mea-
sure the CKP sensor peak voltage.

Imrie diagnostic tester (model 625) or
Peak voltage adaptor
