Sixty-nine different
thickness shims are
available from
1.200 mm
thickness shim to
the thickest 2.900
mm thickness shim
in increments.
Calculate the new shim thickness using the equa-
tion below.
A = (B – C) + D
A: New shim thickness
B: Recorded valve clearance
C: Specified valve clearance
D: Old shim thickness
• Make sure of the correct shim thickness by mea-
suring the shim using a micrometer.
• Reface the valve seat if carbon deposits result in
a calculated dimension of over 2.900 mm.
Install the shims in
their original
locations.
Move the rocker arms to the spring side and install
the shims.
To accustom the shims, rotate the camshaft several
times by turning the drive pulley face (crankshaft).
Recheck each valve clearance.
Install the removed parts in the reverse order of
removal.
ENGINE OIL
OIL LEVEL CHECK
Start the engine and let it idle for 3 – 5 minutes.
Stop the engine and wait for 2 – 3 minutes.
Hold the scooter in an upright position.
Remove the oil filler cap/dipstick and wipe off the oil
from the dipstick with a clean cloth.
Insert the oil filler cap/dipstick without screwing it
in, remove it and check the oil level.
The level should be between the "UPPER" and
"LOWER" level lines of the oil filler cap/dipstick.
