Sensor Open Circuit Inspection
Turn the ignition switch OFF.
Disconnect the ECM 33P (Black) connector.
Disconnect the O
2
sensor 1P (Black) connector.
Check the continuity between the O
2
sensor 1P
and ECM 33P connectors of the wire side.
Is there continuity?
YES
–
NO
–
Open circuit in Black/orange wire
3. O
2
Sensor Short Circuit Inspection
Connect the ECM 33P (Black) connector.
Check the continuity between the O
2
sensor 1P
connector of the wire side and ground.
Is there continuity?
YES
–
Short circuit in Black/orange wire
NO
–
4. O
2
Sensor Inspection
Replace the O
2
sensor and O
2
sensor cord with a
new one (page 6-107).
Erase the DTC’s (page 6-16).
Connect the O
2
sensor 1P (Black) connector.
Turn the ignition switch ON and engine stop
switch " ".
Start the engine and warm up until the engine oil
temperature is 80
°
C (176
°
F).
Test-ride the scooter and recheck the O
2
sensor
with the HDS pocket tester.
Is the DTC 21-1 indicated?
YES
–
Replace the ECM with a known good
one, and recheck.
NO
–
