Honda Smart Card Key System
SUMMARY
Honda Smart Card Key System consists of following components:
• Honda Smart Card Key: Each key has individual ID and transmits/receives ID code signal to/from the Handle Lock Mod-
ule.
• Handle Lock Module: identifies the Card Key and controls the ignition switch, seat lock and the console box lock.
• LF Antenna: transmits the ID code signal sent from the Handle Lock Module to the Card Key.
• RF Unit: receives the ID code signal from the Card Key and sends it to the Handle Lock Module.
• Seat/Console box lock release actuator: receives the signal from the Handle Lock Module, pulls the lock cable and
unlocks the Seat lock/Console box lock.
• Seat/Console box lock release button: starts unlocking the Seat lock/Console box lock.
• Mechanical key: starts simultaneously unlocking the Seat lock/Console box lock.
Honda Smart Card Key System OPERATION
The communication range of the Card Key is within 80 cm (31.5 in) from the Seat/Console box lock release button.
1. Turn on the Honda Smart Card Key System ON/OFF switch and put it close to the vehicle.
2. Push the ignition switch.
– Handle lock module starts up. The LF Antenna transmits the ID code signal to the Card Key.
– The Card Key receives the ID code signal of the Handle Lock Module, then transmits its ID code signal back to the RF
Unit.
– When the ID code sent from the Card Key corresponds to the ID code of the Handle Lock Module, the Card Key identifi-
cation is complete.
3. Turn the ignition switch on and start the engine.
