6. The indicator will show "F" for approximately 5
seconds. While the indicator shows "F", short the
DLC terminals again with the special tool. The
self-diagnostic memory is erased if the gear posi-
tion indicator goes off and starts blinking.
• The DLC must be jumped while the indicator
shows "F". If not, the indicator will not start blink-
ing.
• Note that the self-diagnostic memory cannot be
erased if the ignition switch is turned OFF before
the indicator starts blinking.
7. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
8. Turn the ignition switch ON and engine stop
switch " ".
9. The self-diagnostic memory is erased if the blink
of indicator stops.
• If the blink of indicator does not stop, the data
has not been erased, so try again.
PEAK VOLTAGE INSPECTION
PROCEDURE
• Check all system connection before inspection. If
the system is disconnected, incorrect peak volt-
age might be measured.
• Use recommended digital multimeter or com-
mercially available digital multimeter with an
impedance of 10 M
Ω
/DCV minimum.
Connect the peak voltage adaptor to the digital mul-
timeter.
CIRCUIT INSPECTION
INSPECTION AT PCM CONNECTOR
• Always clean around and keep any foreign mate-
rial away from the PCM connector before discon-
necting it.
• A faulty Honda S Matic System is often related to
poorly connected or corroded connections.
Check those connections before proceeding.
• In testing at PCM connector (wire side) terminal,
always use the test probe. Insert the test probe
into the connector terminal, then attach the digi-
tal multimeter probe to the test probe.
