Example of checking that commands are properly processed
This is an example of checking that commands sent from the controller to the instrument are
properly processed.

You can check for any error in command processing by referring to the EXE bit and CME bit of the
Standard Event Status Register.
(1) Clear the Event Status Register first.
(2) to (3) This example sets the test voltage and verifies that the query responses are of the set voltage.

Since the commands are processed properly, the value of the Standard Event Status Register is
also 0.
(5) The error number is also 0 (No Error).
(6) Specify a parameter outside the range for the command for setting the test voltage and cause an
error to occur.
(7) As the parameter is invalid, you can check that bit 4 (EXE) of the Standard Event Status Register is
set and an execution error occurs.
(8) When the
*ESR?
query is sent, the Standard Event Status Register is cleared.
When the
*ESR?
query is sent again, 0 is returned.
(9) The error number is −220 (Parameter error).
(10) When the :SYSTem:ERRor? query is sent, the error number is also cleared.
When the
:SYSTem:ERRor?
query is sent again, 0 (No Error) is returned.
