C.3 Host Independent Approvals
C.3 Host Independent Approvals
The PMBA-AA is approved only for installation in an approved host with
approved attachments. For approval, the host and host attachments must be
either:
• Type-approved (meaning the equipment is built exactly like the models
that were originally approved)
• Marked with or supplied with a statement that the host is supplied under
General Approval Number NS/G/1234/J/100003, if the equipment was
supplied after March 1, 1989.
Except at the edge connector which plugs into the host’s expansion slot,
clearance and creepage distances of Xmm and Ymm, as listed below must be
maintained between the PMBA-AA and other parts of the host, including any
other expansion cards fitted.

Clearance is the shortest distance in air between two points. Creepage is
the shortest distance along continuous solid parts between the same two
points. The creepage distances apply when installed in a normal office
environment. The creepage distance shown in parentheses apply where
the local environment within the Host Computer is subject to conductive
pollution or dry non-conductive pollution which could become conductive due
to condensation. These distances can be checked by measuring between the
adjacent parts.
If in doubt, advice should be obtained from a competent telecom safety
engineer. Failure to install the PMBA-AA in accordance with these instructions
will invalidate the approval.
