APPENDIX G. – SD CARD REQUIREMENTS 

 

CTI 2500 Series Classic Controller SD Card Requirements  

The CTI 2500 Series Classic controller (2500-Cxxx) supports full size standard 
capacity and high capacity (SDHC) cards. Standard Capacity full size cards are 
marked with the SD logo. 
 
High Capacity full size cards SDHC logo. CTI recommends that you use an 
SDHC card, which is the newer design. SDXC and SDIO cards are not 
supported.  
 

NOTE:  

Support for SDHC cards was added in firmware version 6.18 (12/21/2011). Prior firmware versions 

supported only standard capacity SD cards.  

 

CTI 2500 Series Compact Controller SD Card Requirements 

The CTI 2500 Series Compact controller (2500C-Cxx) supports micro SDHC 
cards. Micro SDXC and micro SDIO cards are not supported.  

Data Storage Capacity 

SDHC and micro SDHC cards range in capacity from 4GB to 32GB (where GB represents 
gigabytes). The smallest capacity (4GB) is more than adequate for use with the 2500 series 
controller. However, you can use SDHC cards with a larger capacity, if you wish.   
 
If you must use a standard capacity card, choose one with a capacity of 256MB- 1GB. 
Smaller capacity cards were produced before the specification was mature.  

Physical Size 

There are three sizes of SD cards: standard, mini, and micro. The SD card receptacle on the 
2500 Series Classic controller (2500-Cxxx) is designed for a standard size card, which is the 
largest form factor. A passive adapter can be used to accommodate the smaller mini or 
micro sizes, if necessary.  The SD card receptacle on the 2500 Series Compact controller 
(2500C-Cxxx) is designed for the micro SD size. 

Speed 

Modern SD cards indicate the access speed by a class rating, which indicates the minimum 
continuous write speed in MB/sec.  For example, a class rating of    indicates an access 
speed of 4 MB/sec. For firmware update, the speed of the card is not important, although it 
will have some small effect on the time to transfer the update file to the controller.
