3. Place bags and boxes of parts in a safe location during unpacking.
4. Remove the inspiration and expiration plugs on the front of the ventilator and keep with
the shipping materials for potential reuse.
5. Roll the device away from the shipping materials onto a safe, dry surface.
Setup Preparation
To ensure that the CAE Air1 is ready for setup and to prevent damage to your ventilator, it is
important to complete the preparation steps as instructed.
Note: These preparation tasks must be performed before you begin the setup procedure.
Temperature
Ensure the ventilator reaches ambient temperature before use. If stored outside the operating
temperature range, place the ventilator in an area within the operating temperature range for at least
two hours prior to use. See the
Specifications section for storage and operational temperatures.
Batteries
The CAE Air1 ventilator contains two lead-acid batteries comprising the UPS battery, and one Lithium-
ion rechargeable backup battery.
Charge UPS Battery
To charge the UPS battery, plug in the ventilator as instructed in the Power Supply section to begin
charging.
• Charge the UPS battery for 12 hours.
• Confirm the battery is fully charged by viewing the battery status indication on the
touchscreen user interface. (Refer to the the Setup Procedure for power on details.)
• Depending on the charge status, keep charging the battery or identify if the battery is not
keeping a charge.
• If the battery is not charging to full charge, do not use the ventilator.
Charge Litihium-ion Battery
To charge the Lithium-ion battery, power on the ventilator as instructed in the Power Supply section to
begin charging. Charge for a minimum of four hours.
