CAE Air1
Expiratory Line
Expired air entering the ventilator is routed through a series of sensors including flow and pressure.
Pressure in the expiratory line is regulated via a control valve. Expired air is exhausted into the
surrounding environment.
Electrical System Description
Controllers
The CAE Air1 ventilator includes three electrical controllers. Their roles are as follows:
CPU
• Graphical User Interface (GUI) controller.
• Primary alarm controller.
Ventilation Controller
• Ventilation controller.
• Backup alarm controller.
Safety Controller
• Monitors ventilation controller.
• Halts ventilation and sets system to Fail Safe mode (patient connected directly to room air)
in the case of a detected failure of the ventilation controller.
Power
Batteries
The system is equipped with an internal power source that takes over in case of loss of AC power.
Furthermore, in case of an internal power system malfunction a second internal power source is
installed and will power alarms indicating the malfunction to the user.

LCD Touchscreen
The LCD touchscreen indicates the specific alarm conditions.
