ROUBLESHOOTING
The troubleshooting chart lists errors or unreported faults with the ventilator, identifies probable
causes, and provides remedies to correct the faults.
A description of the ventilator’s Fail Safe and Pressure Safe modes are described at the end of this
section. Additionally, alarm messages reported on the touchscreen screen are defined in
Appendix B -
Alarms in this guide.
The Self Test and Breathing Circuit Characterization Test are further documented in the Interface
Overview section in this guide.
SAFETY NOTICE
Prior to handling or using the CAE Air1 ventilator, all warnings and cautions must be read and
understood. See the Safety section of this user guide for a comprehensive list.
Symptom Probable Cause Remedy
The ventilator does not
power on after pressing the
power switch.
• The power cord is not
connected correctly.
• The power cord is
damaged.
• AC power is not available
from the wall outlet and
UPS batteries are fully
discharged.
• Confirm the power cord is
securely connected to the
wall outlet.
• Confirm the power cord is
fully connected to the
ventilator socket.
• Check the power cord for
physical damage and
replace as required.
• Connect the power cord to
another wall outlet.
A test failed during Self
Test.
One or more tests failed. Take the ventilator out of service
and contact CAE customer ser -
vice for assistance.
A test failed during Breath -
ing Circuit Characterization
Test.
One or more tests failed. Ensure that the breathing circuit
consists of compatible compo -
nents and is securely connected.
Run the breathing circuit charac -
teristic test again. If failure per -
sists, take the ventilator out of
service and contact CAE cus -
tomer service for assistance.
CAE Air1 Fail Safe screen is
displayed.
The ventilator is in Fail Safe
mode.
Take the ventilator out of service
and contact CAE customer ser -
vice for assistance.
