Note:

Pressure

Support

(PS)

The ventilator delivers a breath only upon the

detection of an inspiratory effort from the patient

above the pressure trigger threshold.

Upon the detection of an inspiratory effort, the

ventilator delivers a constant support pressure (set

Psupp value) which is maintained for the duration

of the inspiration phase. The ventilator's inspiratory

flow stops when it reaches 25% of the peak

inspiratory flow rate.

If the patient does not make an inspiratory effort

for a time greater than the set Tapnea value, the

ventilator backup Pressure Control (PC) Ventilation

mode is activated, according to the set Pi, RR and I:E

backup values.

The ventilator switches back into Pressure Support

mode after three consecutive assist breaths in

backup PC mode.
