Appendix B - Alarms
Backup Alarm
The ventilator includes a backup audible alarm as a safety measure in the event of a power
interruption to the primary alarm controller (MPIC).
Note: It will also function during the Self Test - Backup Alarm Test.
The backup alarm consists of an auditory buzzer, distinct from the other auditory alarms. The buzzer
sound level is set to 80 dB and is not adjustable. When active, the backup alarm buzzer is
accompanied by a red flashing LED on the ventilator case. There is no associated banner on the
touchscreen display.
Responses to Alarm Conditions
Any ventilator alarm condition requires a response. The urgency level and appropriate response
actions depend on the active alarm condition.
Medical Personnel Responses
The following table provides some general instructions to medical personnel in the event of an alarm
condition.
IMPORTANT: Local protocol regarding medical responses take priority over any instructions
provided in this guide.

• Tend to patient as per local protocol.
• Adjust the ventilator parameters, as needed.
Hardware Alarms High
Immediate response required:
• Replace ventilator in the event of Fail Safe.
• Response is dependant on the specific alarm. Refer
to the Troubleshooting section for additional
information.
