Chapter 4 Common Operations
4.1
Basic Setup Procedure
This section describes the basic setup procedure.
Basic setup procedure
Set the sampling interval
See section 5.1.
On the menu that appears by pressing the MODE key,
select time stamp (TimeStamp), hardware histogram
(HardHist), or inter-symbol interference analysis (ISI).
Set the measurement
function
See sections
5.2 to 5.8.
On the Function menu that appears by pressing the
FUNCTION key, select the measurement parameter
from the following.
• When in time stamp mode or hardware histogram
mode
Period, A-to-B time interval (TI), pulse width,
period A & period B (Per.&Per.), period A & A-to-B
time interval (Period&TI), pulse width A & A-to-B
time interval (PW&TI), and pulse width A & pulse
width B (PW&PW)
• When in inter-symbol interference analysis mode
Pulse width, pulse width A
→
A-to-B time interval
(PW
→
TI), and pulse width A
→
pulse width B
(PW
→
PW)
Set the gate
See section 6.1.
On the GateMode menu that appears by pressing the
SAMPLE key, select event or time.
Selecting external gate is also possible.
Set the input coupling,
input impedance, and
trigger level
See section 6.6.
On the menu that appears by pressing the INPUT key,
set the input coupling, input impedance, and trigger.
Start/Stop measurements
See section 4.2.
To perform a measurement once, press the SINGLE key.
To perform the measurement continuously, press the
START/STOP key.
Select the display format
See sections 7.1 to 7.4.
On the Item menu that appears by pressing the DISPLAY
key, select the display format of the measured results
from the following.
• When in time stamp mode
Histogram, list, time variation (TimeVar.), and statistics
• When in hardware histogram mode
Histogram, list, and statistics
• When in inter-symbol interference analysis mode
Histogram and list
