Slide the 3rd gear pinion splined bush onto
the shaft, followed by the 3rd gear pinion, and the
splined washer, and secure them with the circlip,
making sure it locates correctly in its groove in
the shaft
(see illustrations).

Slide the 4th gear pinion onto the shaft, with
its selector fork groove facing the 3rd gear pinion,
followed by the 1st gear pinion, and the thrust
washer
(see illustrations).

Fit the caged ball bearing onto the right-hand
end of the shaft
(see illustration).

Check that all components have been
correctly installed.

Note:
To remove the selector drum and forks the
engine must be removed from the frame and the
crankcase halves separated.
Removal
1 Remove the engine (see Section 5) and
separate the crankcase halves (see Section 25).
The selector drum and forks are located in the
upper crankcase half.
