Landscape Orientation
When the print runs across the wide direction of the page. The
term comes from painting when artists paint “landscapes”
across the wide dimension of the canvas. See also Portrait
Orientation.
Mode
In this manual, mode is another term for a printer control language
such as PostScript or the HP–GL 7475A and HP PCL 5 emulations.
Network
Computer devices (Macintoshes, PCs, printers, etc...) that are linked
together by cables and are able to communicate with each other
using one of many network operating standards (such as AppleTalk
or Ethernet).
Null Modem Cable
One type of cable used for serial communication. This type of cable
arranges the communication between two devices.
Off Line
The printer is not accepting data from the host computer. The On
Line key LED is not lit.
On Line
The printer is ready to accept or accepting data from the host
computer. The On Line key LED is lit. The printer has to be on line
to accept and print a job.
Parallel

PDF File
Printer Description File. A special file providing printer specific
information which is needed by QuarkXPress so that the application
works smoothly with the printer.
