6 Operation Features
6.1 New Truck Preparation for Operation
Study the present operation manual before operation of the new truck and provide daily
maintenance and additionally:
4. Check the coolant level and, if necessary, refill.
5. After filling of the fuel tank fill with fuel the engine feed system by means of hand
fuel feed pump.
6. Check level and electrolyte density in the storage batteries and, if necessary refill dis-
tilled water and charge the storage batteries.
7. Open wheel valves, ramp inflation pressure of tires up to the norm.
8. Check the door locks performance.
9. Check the power window performance of the cab.
10. Carry out the test drive.
6.2 Engine Start and Stop
6.2.1 Cold Engine Start by Means of Engine Starting Heater
1. Make sure that deteriorations and foreign objects are absent in the air charge system
and the gas exhaust system of the heater.
2. To accelerate the engine warm-up close the cab heater tap.
3. Start heater by putting the regulator on the heater control unit in the regulation “
I ”
4. When coolant temperature reaches 40°С upon readings of the coolant temperature in-
dicator on the control panel, open the heater tap.
5. Start engine in accordance with the operation manual for the engine. The heater could
continue working and automatically regulate the performance of the cab heater. For this establish
the fan thermostatic controller of the cab on the heater control unit in the necessary position, the
cab heater switch shall be in the position “OFF”.
6. Turn off the heater by putting the switch in the position “ O ”.
6.3. Truck Breaking In
Truck service life, reliability and cost effectiveness of its performance depend on the
parts running-in during the initial period of the operation. Breaking in could be implemented be-
fore putting into operation of the new truck, and also during its operation. During its period deli-
cate service of the new truck and strict adherence to operation rules specified below are needed.
During the operation it is necessary to monitor the thermal conditions of the truck units.
Within the range of the first 1500-3000 of the mileage:
- warm the engine up at the cranking speed 1300-1600 min -1 ;
- do not exceed the driving speed in first gear more than 5 km/h, in second - 10 km/h, in
third - 20 km/h, in fourth - 40 km/h, in fifth - 50 km/h;
- do not operate the truck in severe road conditions and with the trailer;
- tighten wheel retaining nuts up twice through 100-150 km and 200-300 km and upon
every removal and installation of wheels on the truck boss;
