SSEMBLY
The presenter assembly is a paper transport that moves a printed receipt from
the cutter and delivers it to the customer at the front of the control panel.
The XScale and X2 presenter PCBs and communication cables are not cross-
compatible. The XScale cable connects to the docking board and the X2 cable
connects to the printer controller PCB.

The printer controller PCB is the IO peripheral control in ter face be tween the
mainboard as sem bly and the receipt printer mechanism. It has its own built in
self diagnostic that will test the basic operation of the printer controller PCB,
printer mechanism, the communication path between the printer controller and
the printer mechanism, and the receipt paper autocutter.
The XScale version supports serial communications. Confi guration parameters
are determined by DIP switch settings and jumper placement. The presenter
and the low paper sensor connect directly to the docking board.
The X2 version supports USB communications and three (3) status LEDs that
visually monitor the current sensor state for the three (3) primary subassem-
blies that make up the printer assembly. Confi guration parameters are fi xed and
are resident in the fi rmware. The presenter and the low paper sensor connect
directly to the printer controller PCB.
The XScale and X2 printer controller PCBs are not cross-compatible. They must
be used with the respective XScale and X2 docking boards.

The photoelectric low paper sensor and the paper feed switch PCB are mounted
on the receipt paper roll bracket. The sensor monitors the level of receipt paper
re main ing on the roll. If the low paper sensor indicates that the paper is low, the
terminal will report error code 183 (Low Paper). The terminal will remain in ser-
vice or go out of ser vice depending on the confi guration setting in Management
Functions (Terminal Confi gurations-General Parameters). The paper feed switch
will advance the receipt paper and initiate a self test of the printer controller
PCB, printer mechanism, and the receipt autocutter.
The XScale and X2 low paper sensor/paper feed switch cables are not cross-
compatible. The XScale cable connects to the docking board and the X2 cable
connects to the printer controller PCB.
