This section of the manual provides a brief description of the Service Manual
and a list of specifi cations for the RL5000 Series Automated Teller Machine
(ATM).

This section describes basic system level fault identifi cation and isolation pro-
cedures to assist Level I and Level II service personnel in maintaining the ATM.
This includes fundamental troubleshooting such as visual inspections, limited
technical off-line and on-line system checks (as applicable), error code verifi -
cation and identifi cation (on-line from Customer Transactions and offl ine from
Management Functions), confi guration verifi cation (from Management Func-
tions), and using specifi c device diagnostic tests (from Management Functions).
It also lists default set up parameters (as applicable), common error scenarios
(up to and including operator related errors) and suggested courses of action (as
applicable) to help identify problem areas in the ATM.

This section is a technical resource for factory trained, Level II technicians. It
includes recommended verifi cation and test procedures that are designed to
help a technician isolate a problem to a specifi c area in the ATM, using all avail-
able resources (i.e. functional overview, diagnostic status reports and indica-
tors, device testing, and error code tables). It also contains suggested courses
of action (as applicable), as well as detailed procedures, and graphics for the
removal, replacement, and testing of each primary fi eld replaceable module or
device. The service technician is expected to apply standard problem solving
techniques and have access to a standard electromechanical technician’s tool kit
(i.e. hand tools, ESD strap, a portable USB storage device, multimeter, laptop,
applicable software, and download cables).
