If the terminal uses a modem, make sure the external analog phone line is work-
ing. Connect a phone to the analog line where it connects to the modem. (The
Triton modem has a separate jack where an external phone can be plugged in.)
Listen for a dial tone. If there is a dial tone, listen for any noise on the line. Dial
an outside phone number to make sure outside calls will work on the line.

If the terminal uses a modem connection, verify the Dial Up confi guration pa-
rameters in Management Functions are correct. Verify the settings with the Host:
1. Log into Management Functions.
2. From the main menu, select Option 6, Terminal Confi guration.
3. Select Option 6, Communications.
4. Make sure menu selections 8 (Protocol) and 9 (Message Format) are set
for Triton Standard (Triton Standard w/o EOT if required) and Triton
Standard respectively.
5. Verify the Dial Up menu selections 1-6 (Primary Phone Number, Backup
Phone Number, Predial, Enable Communications Header, 12 digit Se-
quence Number, and Amount Type.
To verify the default confi guration for the modem:
1. From the main menu, select Option 2, Diagnostics.
2. Select Option 7, Modem/Ethernet.
3. Select Option 4, Confi gure Modem; press Enter (or Confi gure).
4. Select the Port Settings tab and verify the default settings are:
Baud Rate: 2400
Data Bits: 7
Parity: Even
Stop Bit: 1
Flow Control: Hardware
5. Select the Call Options tab to verify:
"Cancel call if not connected with 45 seconds" is checked.
"Wait for dial tone before calling" is checked.
