Preparation 4 - Installing Printer and Scanner Drivers
This section describes the procedure to install the printer and scanner drivers. Printer and scanner drivers are software
components that enable application programs to interact with the printer and scanner functions of this equipment.
System requirements
To install the printer and scanner drivers on a Windows computer, make sure of the following system requirements.

Pentium 200 MHz minimum (Pentium 4/1.6 GHz recommended)

Memory
128 MB minimum (256 MB recommended)

Interface
USB 2.0 (Hi-Speed)

OS
The required editions and service packs vary from OS to OS.

Connecting the equipment and the computer
Before you start to install the printer and scanner drivers, make sure that a USB cable is connected to the equipment and
the computer. The figure below illustrates the connection to the equipment.
Do not turn the power ON at this stage. The installer prompts you to turn it on during the installation: be sure to follow
the instruction message.
Installing the drivers
Install the printer and scanner drivers with the installer or Windows Plug and Play function.

Be sure to quit the resident software such as an antivirus program before you start installing the drivers.

In Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2, be sure to use the installer to install the drivers.

Installing the drivers using the installer
Use the installer to install the printer and scanner drivers as follows.

Make sure that the equipment is turned off.

Insert the CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive of your PC.

The installer automatically starts and opens the dialog box for the installation.
y
If the installer does not start automatically, double-click “Setup.exe” in the CD-ROM.
