When you encounter troubles, check the items listed below.
General operation

The equipment does not work at
all.
The power of the equipment is not
turned ON.
Turn ON the power of the equipment.
The power cable is not plugged in
securely.
Plug in the power cable securely.
The button does not respond to
my operation.
It has been a short time since the
power was turned ON.
Wait for the completion of warm-up and then try again.
The LCD screen is too light/dark.
The contrast of the LCD screen is
not adjusted properly.
Adjust the contrast of the LCD screen.

A message is displayed on the
LCD screen.
The equipment has detected an
error status.
See the meaning of the message referring to the listing below.
P.140 “When This Message Appears”
“SAVING ENERGY” appears on
the LCD screen.
The equipment is in the low
power mode.
The equipment enters into the low power mode after a
specified time has passed since its last use. Copying is
enabled.
The LCD screen is dim.
The equipment is in the sleep
mode.
The equipment enters into the sleep mode after a specified
time has passed since its last use. For how to cancel this
mode, see the following page.

Scanning stops before it is
finished. (“MEMORY IS FULL
PRESS ANY KEY” appears on
the LCD screen.)
The built-in memory of the
equipment has become full.
Press any button on the control panel. The scanned pages are
cancelled.
Copying or printing stops before it
is finished. (“CLEAR PAPER
OUTPUT TRAY PRESS START
KEY.” appears on the LCD
screen.)
Approx. 250 sheets of paper have
continuously exited and the
equipment stops copying or
printing to prevent the paper from
overflowing from the tray.
Remove the paper from the receiving tray, and then press the
[START] button. Copying or printing resumes.
Press the [CLEAR/STOP] button to end the copy or print job.
“CANCEL JOB?” appears on the LCD screen. Select “YES”,
and then press the [SETTING/OK] button.
Copy functions cannot be set.
Some copy functions that cannot
be set simultaneously with others
have been set.
Some copy functions cannot be set together with others.

Even when the equipment is
connected with a PC by a USB
cable, it is not recognized.
This cable is not certified
according to the USB2.0 Hi-
Speed.
Use a USB2.0 Hi-Speed certified cable.
The equipment is connected with
a PC via a USB hub.
When the equipment is connected with a PC via a USB hub, it
may not be recognized. Connect it with a PC directly by a USB
cable.

“TONER NEAR EMPTY” appears
on the LCD screen.
There is only a little toners
remaining in the toner cartridge.
There is still some toner in the toner cartridge. Do not replace
the toner cartridge until “TONER EMPTY” appears.
“TONER EMPTY” appears on the
LCD screen.
The toner in the toner cartridge
has run out.
Replace the toner cartridge with a new one.
“TONER NOT RECOGNIZED”
appears on the LCD screen.
The toner cartridge is not
installed. Or it is not installed
correctly.
Install the toner cartridge correctly.
A toner cartridge not
recommended by TOSHIBA is
being used.
If you are using a toner cartridge other than the one we
recommend, the equipment may not be able to detect whether
it is installed or not.

“TONER NEAR EMPTY” does not
appear on the LCD screen,
although toner is nearly empty.
A toner cartridge not
recommended by TOSHIBA is
being used.

The equipment does not become
ready for copying after the toner
cartridge is inserted.
The toner cartridge inserted is not
usable for this equipment.
Check the product name of the toner cartridge. If you can see
“T-1800”, it is usable.
