5.4 Electrical installation
Always observe general safety rules, particularly in potentially hazardous
atmospheres. Always use a personal gas monitor when working on the
device. Always turn off all power (supply and sensors) before electrical
connections are made or loosened.
The device must be connected to the potential equalization at the location
of use. The electrical power supply must be provided according to chapter
2.3. The electrical connection plan of the device specified hereinafter must
be strictly adhered to. If you use a PELV system the wiring is diverent.
Please contact the Elster GmbH in this case.
There must be a functioning effective lightning protection system in place
for the protection of personnel and equipment at the location of use.
The device has no On Off switch of its own. An external switch off
equipment (not part of delivery) is requiered. (see chapter 2.5 and 5.4.1)
It must be installed by the station operator in the vicinity of the device.
The device is protected against reverse polarity.
The device does not work if the connections are interchanged.
5.4.1 Power supply / electric protection / grounding
The overvoltage/current protection and electrical line protection must be
ensured by the power supply. Q2 does not have any protective equipment
accessible to the user.
The 24 V (DC) supply must be re-inforced isolated from mains.
Q2 includes internal thermal and electrical fuses which are not resettable
nor changeable. Please contact Elster GmbH if this security overvoltage /
temperatrue protection, have triggered. See also chapter 7.4.5.
Check the incoming voltage, at the location of use, for accuracy and usability according to the
following data:
Electricity power supply
(according to chapter 2.3)
Voltage range:
24 V DC Fluctuation, including mains fluctuation ±15%
External circuit breaker
which triggers within 120 Second* is installed
Up to 96 W power are aviable
* Note The breaking current is equal 200/Supply voltage. Breaking dependent on the ambient
temperature. This must be taken in to account if the Fuse is installed in a temperature significantly
different from room temperature.
The device housing and mounting structures must be added to the local
grounding and equipotential bonding.
