Application type
The type of application depends on the application of the safety laser scanner:
b
Select application type.
✓
Mobile
Mobile hazardous area protection is suitable for AGVs (automated guided vehi‐
cles), cranes, and forklifts to protect people when vehicles are moving or docking.
The safety laser scanner monitors the area in the direction of travel and stops the
vehicle as soon as an object is located in the protective field.
✓
Stationary
The position of the safety laser scanner is fixed. The safety laser scanner is
mounted horizontally (for hazardous area protection).
✓
Large areas
This application type is suitable when the other application types result in a
reduced availability because no objects appear within the measuring range over
longer periods of time. The tampering protection used for the other application
types, whereby the safety outputs are switched to the OFF state if no objects
are detected over a longer period of time, is deactivated for this application type.
When using this application type, the risk of tampering must be taken into account
in the risk assessment, and regular checks must be performed to ensure that
there are no objects at close range (< 50 mm from the optics cover) impairing the
line of sight of the device.
