Connecting a PC
You can connect the Gateway to a PC to access the Remote Diagnostics utility or for special
configuration. The terminal software used on the PC can be any standard terminal emulator
such as HyperTerminal™.

To connect the Gateway console port to a PC
1. Verify the terminal software used on the PC has the following communications
parameters:

Baud rate:
9600

Data bits:
8

Stop bits:
1

Parity: none

Flow control:
none
2. Connect the 9-pin male connector of the cable to the Gateway console port.
3. Connect the 9-pin female connector to the PC serial port.
4. Run the Hyper Terminal (or other terminal emulator) and press Ctrl+X to restart the
Gateway.
Note: When the Gateway is connected via the console port to a PC running Windows NT,
restarting the PC will also cause the Gateway to restart.
