Understanding the L2W-323 Gateway
2-15
H.323 Version 2 Support
The L2W-323 Gateway supports all mandatory implementation of the H.323 Version 2
protocol stack, while remaining compatible with other pre-version 2 RADVision products.
The following are several Version 2 optional features that the L2W-323 Gateway supports:
!"
Fast Start Mode – (Voice calls only) This feature reduces the time it takes to establish
a call between two H.323 endpoints. The Gateway tries to call a LAN endpoint
through Fast Start mode; if the LAN endpoint does not support Fast Start, the L2W-
323 Gateway automatically uses the normal call connection mode.
!"
H.323 Version 2 Services – Version 2 defines a specific information field for services,
using the gateway prefix field. The L2W-323 Gateway declares supported services
through the services field while registering with a gatekeeper.
!"
DTMF relaying in specified field – Version 2 defines a specific information field for
passing on DTMF tones. The L2W-323 Gateway uses the specified field to pass on
DTMF tones to and from the WAN.
Call Setup Supported Features
The L2W-323 Gateway also supports the following call setup information:
!"
Presentation Restricted – for WAN-to-LAN calls. The Presentation Restricted field is a
RADVision call setup feature that, when enabled, instructs the Gatekeeper to conceal
the identity of the calling party (Calling Party Number) from the party being called.
Presentation Restricted is enabled by default. If you are using a non-RADVision
gatekeeper, we recommend that you disable this feature.
!"
Configurable Default Calling Party Number – for LAN-to-WAN calls. You can
configure a default Calling Party Number; the Gateway provides this number if no
calling number is provided by the LAN endpoint.
!"
Display Field Recognition – for WAN-to-LAN calls. The L2W-323 Gateway provides
the gatekeeper with the Display Field that originated on the ISDN network. The
Display Field of ISDN networking equipment is user configurable and has a variety of
applications.
