Production line speed
A production line consists of several machine trains. In the
case of a paper machine, a machine train consists of, e.g.
the drive motor, the gear, the bearing roller and associated
bearings.
The RPM at any measurement location can be calculated
from the line speed in a production line (e.g. paper
machine, conveyor belt,...) and the diameter of the in-
dividual bearings. In addition, the different RPM ratios
(e.g. due to gears, slip,...) are taken into account for each
bearing (see previous section ‘Train speed’).
The bearing diameter and RPM conditions are set up in
OMNITREND, and the production line speed is entered in
VIBSCANNER before the measurement on site.
Example:
Shock pulse measurement and envelope spectra on rolling
bearings with different RPMs.
When you click on a machine train at the beginning of a
route that is part of a production line, this screen appears:
• Enter the speed, and click on ‘OK’.
• Then continue with the route as usual.
