3-42 NetWare Configuration
NetWare Configuration
Configure Using NetWare 4.x NetWare Directory Services
Using the Network Management Utility
8. In the “Preferred File Server:” field, enter the name of the Preferred File
Server that you want the NC-2 Print Server to attach to first. This opera-
tion, in conjunction with listing all the file servers to be serviced on this
preferred file server, lets you connect directly to the file servers of choice
rather than having the NC-2 search for all file servers it is to service (which
may take a long time).
9. In the “Preferred NDS Context:” field, enter the preferred NDS context.
The Preferred NDS Context must be the entire context, whether typed or
non-typed. Do not begin the context path with a trailing period (.). You do
not need to write a container name (NC-2 Print Server Name) because it
was provided in the field above. See example below:
ou=standard.o=organization_1 (o=Local)
10. In the “Preferred NDS Tree” field, enter the preferred NDS tree name. If
you don’t know what the tree name is, type WHOAMI at the DOS prompt.
11. The “Print Queue Scan Rate” lets you select how often the NC-2 polls
the Novell Netware queues to see if any new print jobs need to be serviced.
The default is one (1) second. Enter in the “Print Queue Scan Rate” field a
value between 1 and 255 seconds.
12. Select the “Ethernet Frame Type:” you want the NC-2 to use. If you
select Auto-Sense, the correct frame type is automatically selected.
13. Click on the “Disable Bindery:” checkbox if you want to disable
Bindery Services. Bindery services is disabled if the checkbox is marked .
When you disable Bindery Services, the NC-2 will not support any of the
print servers on any Bindery file servers.
14. Make sure the “Enable Ports” check box is marked.
This box must be checked if NetWare is to be active.
15. After completing the above steps, enter the password (in lowercase) in
the password field and click on “Accept Settings to store the new configu-
ration settings in the NC-2’s nonvolatile memory. The default password is
“sysadm”.
These changes will not take effect until you power down the Printing
System, and then power it back on.
