Troubleshooting
Novell File Server Checklist
•
First, check to be sure the File Server has enough Hard Disk space
and is up and running.
•
Use PCONSOLE to verify that the correct File Server is associated
with the Print Server.
If the NC-2 Loses Its Novell File Server Connection
•
If the NC-2 loses its connection to the file server, it can take
approximately five to ten minutes to reconnect. No action is
required, since it will automatically try to reconnect on its own.
•
If the connection is not made after a reasonable amount of time,
you should check the other error conditions listed in this chapter to
help troubleshoot the problem.
NC-2 Workstation Checklist
•
Be sure you have Supervisor/Administrator rights to configure the
Print Server using PCONSOLE.
•
From any workstation, run NetWare's COMCHECK to verify that
the File Server and the Print Server are communicating.
•
Make sure the network is loaded on every workstation that is trying
to access Print Server printers. See Novell NetWare documentation.
•
Make sure the workstation's programs are set up to print to the
Print Server printer; and you are using the connect printer driver.
•
Verify that the workstation is connected to the correct print queue
by printing a file.
•
Make sure the print queues assigned to the Print Server printers are
not assigned to other network printers.
•
Use NetWare's PRINTCON to enable AUTOENDCAP.
•
Use PRINTCON or CAPTURE to set a longer print job timeout.
A setting of two minutes or more is recommended for printing
graphics.
