Accessing the Switch
SNTP Example
In this example, the switch queries a specific NTP server and a
backup NTP server. The switch is located in Cupertino, CA, and an
update occurs every 20 minutes. The commands to configure the
switch are as follows:
config timezone -480 autodst
config sntp-client update interval 1200
enable sntp-client
config sntp-client primary server 10.0.1.1
config sntp-client secondary server 10.0.1.2
Using Web Device Manager
The Intel
®
Web Device Manager is device-management software
running in the switch that enables you to access the switch over a
TCP/IP network using a standard Web browser. Any properly
configured standard Web browser that supports frames (such as
Netscape Navigator
*
3.0 or above, or Microsoft Internet Explorer
*
3.0 or above) can manage the switch over a TCP/IP network. For
more information on assigning an IP address, refer to the section,
“Configuring Switch IP Parameters” earlier in this chapter.
The default home page of the switch can be accessed using the
following command:
http://<ipaddress>
When you access the home page of the switch, you are presented
with the Logon screen. For more information on using Web Device
Manager, refer to Chapter 16, Using Web Device Manager.
Controlling Web Access
By default, Web access is enabled on the switch. Use of Web
Device Manager access can be restricted through the use of an
access profile, which permits or denies access to a named list of IP
addresses and subnet masks.
