Basic Functionality
Basic functionality requires
no license key
. Basic functionality
includes all switching functions, and also includes all available layer
3 QoS, access list, and ESRP functions. Layer 3 routing functions
include support for the following:
•
IP routing using RIP version 1 and/or RIP version 2
•
IP routing between directly attached VLANs
•
IP routing using static routes
Full Layer 3 Functionality
In addition to the Basic Functionality, switches that have the Full
Layer 3 license enables support of additional routing protocols and
functions, including the following:
•
IP routing using OSPF
•
IP multicast routing using DVMRP
•
IP multicast routing using PIM Dense Mode
•
IPX routing (direct, static, and dynamic using IPX/RIP and IPX/
SAP)
Verifying the Router License
To verify the router license, use the
show switch
command.
Obtaining a Router License
You can upgrade the router license of an existing switch by
purchasing a voucher from Intel. The voucher contains instructions
on obtaining a license key from the Intel web site at
support.intel.com. Once a license key is entered, it is not necessary to
enter the information again. However, we recommend keeping the
upgrade voucher for your records.
