When you flash the system ROM, ROMPaq writes over the backup ROM and saves the current ROM as a
backup, enabling you to switch easily to the alternate ROM version if the new ROM becomes corrupted for
any reason. This feature protects the existing ROM version, even if you experience a power failure while
flashing the ROM.
You can choose which ROM to use in RBSU ("
HP ROM-Based Setup Utility
" on page
68
).
Disaster recovery support
The Disaster Recovery feature is supported on servers that do not support Redundant ROM. When a ROM
flash fails or the system ROM becomes corrupted, disaster recovery enables administrators to update the
system ROM with a Systems ROMPaq Diskette or USB key.
To use this feature on supported servers, boot to the appropriate media (ROM flash diskette or USB key) for
the affected platform, and then allow the flash recovery process to complete. Because no video support exists
during this process, the server emits a series of beeps at completion.
Automatic backup
A backup copy of the ROM image existing on the target server is made in the ROM image backup
subdirectory:
\CPQSYSTEM\FWBACKUP\SYSTEM
